Megan Bayne instantly put the Stardom roster on notice upon her Japan debut, but a long journey preceded the “Megasus” beforehand.

Ohio Valley Wrestling tenure

Megan’s days as a professional wrestler dates back to 2017 in Ohio Valley Wrestling. Megan went by the ring name “Meg” at the time. During her inital run, she constantly teamed up with Cali Young as “The Varsity Babes” and had a storied rivalry with her later on. She eventually adapted the Megan Bayne name before capturing the historic OVW Women’s Championship from Cali in a Triple Threat alongside Madi Maxx in 2019. She went on to hold the title for 150 days before losing it to Max The Impaler.

Megan also worked the independent circuit in between and beyond her OVW tenure. Fans witnessed her in action in multiple promotions such as East Coast Pro Wrestling, SHINE Wrestling, and IMPACT, among others. In 2021, Megan defeated Ray Lyn for the Maryland Championship Wrestling Women’s Title. She also won the Immortal Championship Wrestling Women’s Title from Christina Marie that same year before vacating the belt.

Some of Megan’s work in MCW are available for free viewing on YouTube.

With her intimidating figure and wrestling ability garnering attention from multiple companies, it was not long before AEW made the call for her to debut in their former AEW Dark show. She wrestled the likes of Big Swole, Nyla Rose, and Thunder Rosa to name a few. After a few losses, Megan began to rack up some wins over Shalonce Royal, Leila Grey, and Tiffany Nieves to further etch her name into conversation.

A great match between @themeganbayne and @Miss_LeilaGrey here at #AEWDarkElevation, but it was the #GreekGoddess who ended up victorious with a brutal tombstone piledriver!

Her last match for AEW occurred in June of 2023 where she lost to Maki Itoh and Willow Nightingale alongside Emi Sakura in a tag team match.

World Wonder Ring Stardom

After wrestling all around the States, Megan shocked Japanese wrestling fans when she debuted for Stardom in late July 2023. She attacked former World of Stardom Champion Tam Nakano after the latter’s match, sending a message to the entire Stardom roster in the process.

Her display of strength and dominance towards the company’s top champion skyrocketed her to the main event spot to challenge for the World Championship at the Stardom x Stardom show a month after her debut.

While she came up short against Tam Nakano in the title bout, Megan stayed with Stardom to become accustomed to the Japanese wrestling style. She formed “Divine Kingdom” alongside Maika to enter the 2023 Goddesses of Stardom Tag League. The two eventually won the tournament by defeating Mei Seira and Suzu Suzuki in the finals to earn a shot at the Goddess of Stardom tag belts.

2021 – FWC
2022 – 7Upp

The duo, unfortunately, was unsuccessful in winning the tag belts against the returning team of Utami Hayashishita and Saya Kamitani at Big Winter 2023. However, this loss did not stop Megan from pursuing other titles.

After reaching a Time Limit Draw finish in a singles match with Giulia this past November, she laid the challenge out for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship. As Giulia accepted the challenge at a press conference, Stardom officially announced the match for Dream Queendom 2023: their biggest show of the year.

Seven years into her career, Megan Bayne’s wrestling journey continues its progression. She shows that she easily adapts her style to a plethora of opponents, so it may not be long before a new World Champion emerges before our very eyes.
